Kamera Sony HXR NX100 dibekali dengan kinerja berkualitas tinggi, kemampuan beradaptasi, dan juga kemudahan dalam penggunaan. Camcorder ini memiliki sensor Exmor R tunggal, resolusi Full HD 1920×1080, lensa Sony G dengan 12x rentang zoom optik, dan 24x Clear Image Zoom. Lensa zoom terintegrasi fitur cincin kontrol lensa individu untuk fokus, iris, dan zoom. Lensa bisa dipakai pada mode otomatis dengan kontrol servo, atau bisa juga di operasikan dengan full manual.
Kamera video ini juga memungkinkan Anda berbagi profil antara beberapa kamera NX100. Kamera ini juga mendukung Sony slow dan quick Motion untuk shooting video HD pada frame rate variabel. Dapat merekam video dalam banyak format, frame rate dan codec, camcorder mendukung XAVC S codec merekam video Full HD sampai dengan 59.94p, AVCHD 2.0 upto 59.94p, dan DV untuk SD video.
Rekaman Anda tercatat dalam 2 x slot kartu memori SD. Anda dapat memilih, merekam bersamaan untuk kedua kartu SD atau menggunakan modus relay yang switch merekam otomatis ke kartu memori kedua ketika memori yang pertama telah penuh. Dua slot kartu bisa dikontrol secara independen dari dua tombol record terpisah. 2 x 3-pin dukungan input XLR line audio, mic, dan mic + 48 V (phantom power) untuk menggunakan mikrofon profesional.
